The White House is reportedly considering additional pro-crypto candidates to lead the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as the confirmation of Brian Quintenz, President Donald Trump's initial pick, faces delays. Sources indicate the administration is evaluating potential replacements, including Michael Selig, chief counsel to the SEC's crypto Task Force, and Tyler Williams, a digital asset policy advisor to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The CFTC's role is set to expand significantly with the anticipated market structure overhaul, which would shift much of the crypto market oversight to the agency. Currently, the commission operates with only acting Chairman Caroline Pham, who is expected to step down once a permanent leader is appointed. The delay in Quintenz's confirmation and the agency's staffing shortage have intensified the search for a crypto-friendly chair.
